Sean Buxton is the lead advisor in our Silicon Valley office. He has been advising high‑net‑worth individuals, technology executives, and small business owners throughout the Bay Area for the last twenty years. He joined TBG in early 2026 to drive TBG’s new Silicon Valley office endeavor, having been at Legacy Financial Advisors for over a decade.
Sean brings a very practical approach to his planning work on behalf of clients. He views financial planning as art as much as science, working with a CFO mentality to execute on the vision each client has for their own goals and desired financial independence.
Sean holds a degree in Economics from the University of Arizona with a minor in Creative Writing. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and maintains his Series 7 and life insurance licenses.
Outside of work, Sean enjoys reading fiction and spending time outdoors flyfishing, snowboarding, golfing, and mountain biking. He coaches sports for his two daughters, Avery and Brynn. He and his wife, Sara, and their dog, Purdy, enjoy hiking. A lifelong Northern California resident, Sean is an avid fan of the Warriors, 49ers, and Giants.
